PARISH OF ST PETER & ST PAUL WITH ST ANDREW, FLITWICK
PCC ANNUAL REPORT FOR 2008
Background
The Parochial Church Council has the responsibility of co-operating with the Incumbent, the Revd Michael Bradley, in promoting in the ecclesiastical parish the whole mission of the Church, pastoral, evangelistic, social and ecumenical. It also has responsibility for the maintenance of the Parish Church and Chapter House, and for St Andrew’s Hall, Windmill Road.
Membership
Members of the PCC are either ex officio or elected by the Annual Parochial Church Meeting in accordance with the Church representation Rules, or co-opted during the course of the year. There are 11 meetings per year. During the year the following served as members of the PCC (number of meetings attended to date in brackets):-
Committees The PCC operates through a number of sub-committees which meet from time to time during the year.
Standing Committee This is the only committee required by Law. It has power to transact the business of the PCC between meetings, subject to any directions given by the Council.
Buildings & Furnishings Committee. This committee attends to matters related to the fabric and furnishing of the Church and Chapter House and St Andrews.
Parish Magazine Committee This committee is responsible for the production and distribution of the Parish Magazine.
Social Committee This committee is responsible for promoting fellowship with the Church.
Vision for Action The Missions Committee was not appointed last year in favour of using Vision for Action as a platform for taking action discussed on each Agenda at PCC meetings. This will be reviewed again this year to see if a Mission Committee is really the best option or not. During the year various project groups have been formed for specific purposes. These include groups to organise the Summer Fete and Christmas Bazaar and to organise the Stewardship campaign.
Organisations
The following organisations promote Christian fellowship within the Church:-
Little Fishes, Mothers’ Union and Wednesday lunches.
Sunday School for children aged 3.5 to 11 meets on Sunday mornings. Youth services are also held on a Sunday evening on a regular basis. Little Fishes meets on a Monday morning and Tiddler’s Songtime is held on the first Friday of every month in the Chapter House in the afternoon.
The bell ringers meet regularly for practice and to ring for services. The choir and organist meet for practice and worship. The Music Group takes part in the Together in Worship service held on the first Sunday of the month. The Healing Group hold regular meetings.
Church attendance
At the last Annual Parochial Church Meeting there were 97 names on the Roll.
The average number of Communicants on Sundays at the Parish Church was 52.96 (78.60%) and 14.42 (21.40%) at St Andrews. The total average attendance at HC for both churches in 2007 was 67.38 (100%) The sub-committees also met during the year and reported back to the full PCC from time to time, as did the various project groups.
