There is a strong misconception....

that the Worship and duties associated with the Parish Church are concluded on a Sunday when the last member of the congregation has left , shaken hands with the vicar and departed to a well earned Sunday lunch.

The Church of St Peter and St Paul with St. Andrew....

are structures, which are in constant need of attention. The passage of years has taken a toll on the fabric of the building.

The church has served this Parish over centuries....

and will continue so to do if due care and attention is paid to the upkeep and general well being of the building.

There is however a price to be paid to ensure that there will always be a Church here....

To minister to the needs of the local populace, spreading The Word and bringing spiritual comfort to those to whom it is necessary. It is a price which is required not only in Coin of the Realm but also in the talents and dedication of people who are prepared to play a part in the present life of the Church to ensure a continuation of service which has been handed down to each generation for so long.

To this end The Friends of Flitwick Parish Church was set up in 1991 and devote much time and effort to raising funds for the various requirements of the church. The efforts range from taking part in the fetes and fairs which occur during the year to making representation to the various bodies which administer the distribution of funds from both charitable and other sources. These are for the use of such as The Friends in maintaining and servicing buildings of historic interest. As a Grade 2 Listed Building the Church of St. Peter and St Paul qualifies for such funding but the competition for these monies is such that all avenues must be constantly pursued. Items such as commemorative mugs, pencils, tea towels, packs of illustrated note lets are always on sale where possible at church functions.

The Friends also encourage support through the provision of donations and legacies from those who wish to give support to matters Temporal and so enhance the all important Spiritual aspects of the Worship of the Church.

All are welcome to the meetings of the Friends

The only contribution necessary is time.

It is recognised that all have the same amount of this commodity so no great call is made on individual members.

Much pleasure can be derived from the fellowship gained through working with like-minded people when the outcome gives such satisfaction. Anyone who is interested in helping can do so in one of the following ways;

Support our events

Come along to the meetings and see how you can be of assistance.
