The Mother's Union was founded in 1876 by Mary Sumner.
It is concerned with all that strengthens marriage and Christian family life. Its aim is the advancement of the Christian religion in the sphere of marriage and family life.

Mary Sumner, founder of the Mothers Union
Its five objectives are:
To uphold Christ’s teaching on the nature of marriage and to promote its wider understanding.
To encourage parents to bring up their children in the faith and life of the church.
To maintain a worldwide fellowship of Christians united in prayer, worship and service.
To promote conditions in society favourable to stable family life and the protection of children.
To help those whose family life has met with adversity.
Membership is open to all, men and women, who have been baptised in the name of the Trinity and who support the aim and objectives.
There are members in many parts of the world, united under one Worldwide President.
We are consulted by the government on family issues and are accredited to the United Nations.
Our meetings start with prayer but they are varied and we do have fun.
A Mother's Union party is usually a lively affair.
Flitwick branch meets on the third Thursday of the month at 2.00pm in the Chapter House of Flitwick Parish Church.
We offer a warm welcome to anyone who would care to join us.

The Mothers’ Union Prayer
Loving Lord
We thank you for your love so freely given to us all.
We pray for families around the world.
Bless the work of the Mother’s Union
as we seek to share your love through the encouragement,
strengthening and support of marriage and family life.
Empowered by your Spirit,
may we be united in prayer and worship,
and in love and service reach out as your hands
across the world. In Jesus’ name.
Amen.
